After attending the free school of Artur Podolini-Volkmann, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest from 1928 to 1933, in the class of János Vaszary and István Csók. As a scholarship student in Rome he studied fresco painting. He was a member of the UME, and during the 1930s he worked regularly at the Szolnok Artists' Centre.
