Viktor Belányi Painter

1877 - 1955

Belányi Viktor (Nyitraludány, October 5, 1877 - May 7, 1955): painter, graphic artist. After studying at the Applied Arts School in Budapest and at the School of Pattern Art, he went to Munich. As a student of Simon Hollósy, he participated in the first exhibition of the Baia Mare in 1899. In 1909 in Madrid he copied the works of Goya, Velázquez, Tiziano. He lived in Paris between 1909-13. In addition to ornamental ex libris, Art Nouveau style drawings, he also dealt with portrait painting. In his paintings, especially in his still lifes, the effect of Cézanne can be felt. In 1912-13 he organized a collective exhibition in Munich, 1913 in Berlin and in 1915 as a soldier in Trenčín a military exhibition. The Paál László Companion. he was a founding member. He exhibited his works in the Ernst Museum in 1920 and 1930, and in the Salon of the Studio in 1943. He participated in the 1950 Fine Art Exhibition with his self-portrait.
