1910-16: Hungarian College of Fine Arts, master: Viktor Olgyai; 1920-21: Hungarian College of Fine Arts, further training master: Tivadar Zemplényi. 1923, 1927: several study trips to Italy. He lived in Esztergom, but from 1923 he also had a studio in Budapest, on Kelenhegyi út. He was a member of the Ex-libris and Graphics Friendship Circle. In World War II he fought on the Eastern Front. From 1947 he painted only in Esztergom. In the 1930s, he also made religious compositions and was commissioned to paint frescoes. His native town was always a place of spiritual recharging for him, and in the 1950s it became a veritable refuge. Rejecting the thematic requirements of socialist realism, he painted his large series of cityscapes there, entitled Unknown Esztergom, in which he followed his earlier, realistic conception. In his paintings he attractively combined lyrical, atmospheric and topographically accurate depictions.
